Over the last few months I have been working on a project that will compete directly with mainstream transport management systems.
The idea came about from a client who needed to change some MDT units in their fleet, there main complaint was about the ongoing costs of the current market offerings. As their fleet is large they are realistic about cost in the current market.
What I have come up with does the following:
Allows them to keep track of units in their fleet via GPS
Despatch jobs to each unit
capture consignment notes and container numbers.
enter quantities on site
sync data between handset and server
Capture proof of pickup and delivery
Real time reporting
Send jpeg files such as RUC to each hand held
Geo Fence for Of road reporting
Google Maps interface for directions on device
Email and messaging to device via Google Apps.
And off course the device is a Mobile Phone as well.
